I remember I was once in a diner in Virginia with some British friends. They ordered eggs and toast, and had to repeat themselves to the waitress, but not because she didn't understand them. As she afterwards explained in a warm, southern accent: "I just love to hear you people talk."

omg... that is not funny. I grew up in VA... but then again we were basically a suburb of DC. hmm...
well I love to watch stuff on the BBC and things like... Waking Ned Divine and anything about Ireland. My ex fiancee asked me once " are their subtitles?" I looked at him funny. " They are speaking english." He apparently couldn't understand anything they said and had a really hard time with anything that wasn't a Serbian or Croation accent. Or... midwestern. He was from Milwakee

Ok guys from the south have this smooth accent. I LOVE the guys with a British accent. Guys from the east. Forget it. You should hear how they say Boston. It is a hoot. I laugh my a** off everytime. Me. Just a plain old midwestern accent. I know. BORING.

Rofl. xD I am from around Milwaukee, and I swear to god I can't stand NJ accents. I've vented about this probably 500 times. But they talk waaaay too fast, and slurr, and mumble, and the sad part is is that they can understand eachother. - sigh - And I hate how they say water. "wooder". My boyfriend is from NJ, and sometimes I just laugh at how he says things. xD

The only accent I really don't like probally is british. Sorry Mark (veedo). But I just don't really like it for some reason, that and the vocabulary they use. Something about hearing "jolly good day" just makes me feel violent, and hearing "Bloody" before every word doesn't help calm the violence down either.
