Written for my friend Sharon to use in her poetry book.
--- The rainbow over the sea of afternoon
Stretches across the sky with beauty bright
Starting at the rising of the moon
Only to fade in its gossamer light
Remote from smoky cities, aged and gray,
Vibrant colors start to disappear
Only to pass like a hot summer day
To eyes that watch you there is a tear.
As sadness fills the grief struck hearts
Tears spill down their distressed faces
As your beautiful rainbow now departs
From this dark and mournful place
To lap in sacred sadness, or inspire
Your beauty is still sung on a bard's lyre.
