Once in a while, even the simplest spells to him broke, despite all the concentration, his doubles had disappeared. Now he stood, watching and smiling to himself seeing kahlans tears as he just tilted his head and let himself lean upon the doorframe.

"True, dissappearing is what I am known for. That and blowing up stairways that make me angry when I have had a bit to much to drink." That sly grin would cross his face. "But as for me not loving or wanting you... your wrong." He walked over to them and kissed the top of Kahlans head. "Your a great part of me Kahlan. You and your half sister and brothers are my blood, my motivation to keep going in this insane world. Without you, I would have no purpose."

"I just have so many things to do... and I wish I could be here all the time. But I can't. But one day soon, I will take you away from here and pass down all my knowledge to you."

[Lady Desari]

If she hadn't already been sitting down, she would have fallen over. She had not been trying to be mean about him to her. She was being as honest as she could without hurting anyone. She looked up at Vincent as he kissed his daughters head.

"Please don't say the word take. Makes it sound as if she is never going to come back."

She held on to her daughter just a little tighter. Kahlan looked over her shoulder at her mother and smiled. Pushing away from her, she wrapped her arms around her fathers neck and she kissed his cheek.

I think I understand daddy. Sometimes momma has a lot of work and I don't see her til its dark, but why don't you come to see me more often? That is what I don't understand. And how come I have never met any of my other brothers or sisters and how come you don't love momma any more and how come"

"Kahlan that is enough questions for now. If I don't stop her, she will go on into the night. She is very inquisitive. In fact we were just talking about getting her another tutor. Seems she more advanced then her sister and her brother. By the way hello Vincent"

Oh just wonderful..He decided to show his ugly mug after being away for so long. Wish he would of stayed away. Crystal lost all respect for Vincent/Ryu whoever he was.

She continued to watch the two children knowing that if Desari needed her she would not think twice about it.

Those blue hues would just take in Kahlan as he wrapped his arms tight around her and closed his eyes, taking a deep shuddering breath as a single tear began to roll down his cheek.

"Kahlan, I have made many mistakes in this life. And the reason I am never around is because I try hard to do peneance for all I have done by doing good." He rested his face in Kahlans shoulder. "Hopefully one day, many of the people I have hurt will forgive me. But till that day, I... lack the... courage to be around so often. Because much here is a painful reminder of those mistakes. These are the reasons I don't stay around like a normal parent." He would then rlease his arms somewhat, and look into Kahlans eyes and smile. "As for your other siblings, I shall introduce you to them soon. And as for my love for your mother..." He would look to Desari and smile softly. "I'm am so confused right now in everything else, for me to force her into my private hell would be unfair, and I made a vow to one person I would stay alone for the rest of my time here upon this land."

She watched father and daughter together and something pulled at her heart. Listening to him however made her a tad bit angry. She stood and leaned down to her daughter.

"Can you give your father and I moment alone? I promise he won't leave without saying good bye. Just a few moments?

Kahlan gave her mother a look. A look Desari had used many times. Desari simply crossed her arms and Kahlan pouted and stomped her feet and walked to the door.

"Daddy promise you won't leave until I can say good bye?"

"Kahlan I told you he won't."

When Kahlan left, she turned to Vincent and suddenly every piece of glass in her room shattered.

"Are you done? I know you have made mistakes but punishing your children for your mistakes is wrong and you know it. All the penance in the world will not make up for the neglect you impose on your children. And as for people forgiving you, the only ones who have to forgive you are your children. I forgave you a long time ago. Why? Because of Kahlan and my self. I needed to forgive you. And what does courage have to do with seeing your daughter? Nothing. She loves you and accepts you no matter what. Unconditional love Vincent. something your afraid to have and be apart of. And as for loving me, your only confused because I do love you, unconditionally. Always have. And by saying you won't force me into your private hell, you are taking a decision away from me. A grown woman, able to make her own choice."

She moved toward him and cupped his cheek, her eyes bright with understanding and caring.

"As for your vow to this one person, whatever you choose to do with your life I will support as long as you take into account your daughters feelings and needs."

Walking away, she looked over her shoulder, she smiled and called to Kahlan to come back into to room and she moved to the hall, so they could spend time alone.

Those hues would close themsleves off, hiding under his eyelids as he took a deep breath. With a quick movement, his arm would fly upward to throw his cloak over his shoulder revealing the hilt to a sword that many had thought destroyed but a sword long before the mortals of todays world could even begin remember. Kyl'Vesen. Ryu's first known blade.
He would simply watch Desari walk out into the hall.

I will no longer neglect my children Desari. But I walk my Hell alone. I never took a choice from you because I never let it be an option. I have hurt Raine, Tempest and you. But the three of you treat me well for all I have done. My promise to stay alone, I will try and keep. Most importantly though is the fact that the Cambridge family is once again back together. Ezrella will soon return, Kavan and I are now brothers like before and with all of us, I have what I missed for thousands of years, my life.

"Kahlan." His look would become miscievious. "You don't like being these tutors and teachers do you? Feel like they are treating you like a ignorant fool?"

He would look to the cieling reminescing on his life. He had destroyed one tutor.

"We take in much knowledge Kahlan in our race but we also have... temper issues." He would grin. "Mommy can tell you how daddy is a ery tempermental fool. Promise me that if you get frustrated with the tutor, you will deal with him or her in a... mischievious maybe but not hostile manor and not tell mommy daddy told you too."

[Gelina Grey]

Standing out in the hallway, having heard part of the conversation, she stands leaning on the wall with her arms crossed as her sister walks out into hall.

"Well, well, looks like the protocal son returns." She levels her gaze with her sister and grins. She was stunning. Why? Hmm, maybe that's what true love really does to a person. Her eyes were brighter, her hair was brighter. The image of the person she used to be before her life plunged into hell for so many years.

"Did I come at a bad time?" Cocking her head to the side while grinning at her sister, mischief and maybe even a little mayhem in her emerald eyes. "We never did get to have that drink."

It had taken years and death for Gelina and Desari to make amends and she sure as hell wasn't going to loose her sister again. It had been easy to sense Vincent was back in the realm and she knew right where he would go.

Now mind you she wasn't there to make trouble, as much as she would like to, but she was also making sure that he didn't go stomping on Desari's heart again now that she knew the truth. It actually sat well with her how her sister felt about him. For she herself couldn't be happier as Caelum's wife.

[Lady Desari]

"Oh holy god. Don't scare me like that. I am old and could drop dead of a heart attack." She smiled. "By the way marriage to Caelum seems to suit you." She ran her hands over her face and shook her head.Seeing her sister here was shocking. Gelina and her never really finished their talk and she knew in her soul that things between them still weren't right. Maybe they never would be.

"No you have not come at a bad time, just an interesting time. And yes it looks as if he has returned. How long he will stay, I know not. I just want him to spend time with his daughter. I think that is what is part of the problem. She is confused."

She shook her head and gave a small sigh. She just wanted the best for her children. As for Desari, she came to the conclusion years ago that she would be alone and had accepted it. The driving force for her was her children. "Nay we never did have that drink. Come. We can go use my solar. I don't want to be to far away from her. Isabeau is in the garden and Kendrick is pr acting his sword play. Crystal is watching over both of them."

A short walk and she threw open the door of her solar. Books where everywhere except for the four chairs near the fire place and the window seat. The solar took up one entire side of the north tower. This was so she could be close to the children while they did their lessons. "So what are you drinking? Perhaps a bottle of champaign so we can toast your marriage?"

Crystal felt Lina's presence and was glad that Desari had someone to talk to besides the scumbag. When she was finished watching Isabeau and Kendrick she would visit with Lina. She also wondered where her own cubs were at at this moment. She prayed they were staying out of trouble.

[Gelina Grey]

Walking into the Solar with her sister, she smiles hearing Crystal. ~Hello, Crystal, it's good to know you are here as well.~

Settling herself in the window seat, she pulls off her leather gloves, watching her sister. "Irish whiskey, you know that." A slight smirk as she tucks the gloves into her belt.

Leaning back against the window frame, she looks back up at Desari, waving her hand slightly to shut the door of the solar.
"Now tell me, why do you think he's really here. Please tell me it's not to beg for forgiveness." A slight roll of those emeralds before looking at Desari again. "I mean, c'mon Desari, you and I both know you really don't need this in your life. I know you love him, but is it worth it?"

Only because she knew better. She'd been in Ryu's hell that he spoke about only a few moments ago in the other room. She surely didn't want that for her sister. Though she knew it wasn't her choice. All she could do was try to make sure that she understood what she would be getting herself into if she were to persue anything with him. All she wanted was for Desari to be happy. It took years for Lina to find hers. Now it was time for Desari. And she would make sure of it.
