Throughout the years GoldenMyst has seen many a trouble, people have come and gone, returned and left again... The lands have been attacked by goblins and the citizens ocassionally terrified by one villanous individual or another. Perhaps that is why no one found it odd that a mist flowed from the mountains...a mist which attached to nothing and ocassionally made its way against the breeze.
Or perhaps it was because this particular mist had not wanted people to see it, until now. As it drew down the beach it passed a compound that though may no longer be in use its marble construct was still as grand as the day it was raised...it paused briefly and then moved on, to any who might have been near it they would have been overcome with a feeling of meloncholy...
After time this morning mist would lay low, to the east of the castle, seeming to stand there, and through the afternoon, the heat of the sun would do nothing to dispell it. Ocassionally the mist would shift and if one watched closely they could see a form moving throughout it, sometimes in the form of a great dragon, other times in the form of a man. Perhaps it was curious...or perhaps it was waiting...regardless it did not move.

Her parents had left the small girl on her own for a few hours. That inevitably meant that it was Xia's job to get away from the nannies and into something. Anything...
Eventually she'd crawled out of sight, Lapis curled up by the hearth asleep. She'd wanted to get outside in the snow again. Her guardian never let her have any fun, but she'd long since learned that the pegasus her uncle had given her would fly to the doors and push at them until they opened for her. She wasn't really dressed for the cold, as the castle was kept heated by many a fireplace throughout it.
Once she got outside, she did notice that it was cold. She nearer crawled back around before the infant noted something odd. There was that funny, tingling feeling in her skin like it felt when Daddy made things happen. Her godfather too, actually. She liked the tingly feeling, though, and started to toddle eastwards. Occasionally she stumbed, crawling a bit before she'd find something to help her pull herself up again like a bush or large rock.
For the most part, though, she was just one small little toddler. Only a little over a year old by now, her mothers red curls bright against the snowy landscape and her father's lavander eyes gleaming out at the world.

The mist did not lie far to the east, only but 20 min at a slow walk for a full grown man, so it was not horribly long before the child saw the mist...
As she came within view the mist moved a bit closer to the child...it was cold and a child had no place away from the castle at this time of the day... As the mist drew near its composition would change slightly, the solidity of it changing color to a silver sheen that seemed to radiate almost a warmth...sparkles flew within the mist and if one were sensitive enough they would feel almost protective urges, for even amongst the most barbaric tribes of the north a child is still something to be protected.
The mist called to the fundemental parts of the mind, the parts that but few select individuals understood and recognized...it beckoned the child closer, for this too might serve its purpose....

As Xia had made her way past, he had somehow sensed it. Waking up from his crib he would let out a soft whine. Large grey eyes looking over towards Xia.
Oh my.. she was going to get herself into trouble. It had taken a little bit of time to break away from the 'crib' that he had been placed into while his own mother was away, he was prideful that he was like his bigger sister.
Always getting into trouble when it wasn't needed.
Though he had already started to grow and mature a bit faster.., did it have anything to do with what mommy was up to?
Slowly he would make his way down towards where Xia had gone to. Giving a soft whimper as he looked around. Grey eyes seeming to take everything in, but it frightened him. And then he saw her..
Looking past her he would see some.. cloud looking thing. Tilting his head a bit. "xxxxiiiiaaa???"

She always was one for being curious. Otherwise she'd have long ago sat down in the snow and started to wail, having noted that her blue dress (it may have been white at some point) was wet from falling in the snow and slush so often. Her little palms were getting numb. She didn't like this outdoors thing very much by herself. With mother, she'd had someone warm to snuggle her and keep her from falling too often in the freezing stuff...
But there was something glittering up ahead. She wobbled a little where she'd pulled herself up again. Her tiny little body shook as she shivered, but the mist seemed to be warmer now.
So off she toddled, her teeth chattering as she made her way to the warmth offered by the midst. This had to be good then, right?
Somewhere in the castle, though, Lapis raised his head and started to look around. Why was he sensing cold from his tiny ward? Up he went, talons clicking through the halls as he to climb up to the nurcery. Certainly the nannies knew to look after her, right?
Oh, Nym was going to have quite a bit to say about this. The more Lapis looked, the more worried the little dragon became. He started to cry piteously, looking for his small ward. He couldn't lose her this quickly!
Xia, on the otherhand, was reaching her hand out as she toddled about, trying to catch whatever it was that was glittering. To her, this was no different than playing in the gardens with the sprites. She even giggled and laughed, truly amused by this new mist.

From the moment she entered the mist the cold of the morning and the snow was forgotten, for within its whispy grasp it was indeed warm. The glitters had a purpose and slowly they led the child deeper within the mist, near the middle all the glitters coalesced into a form.
The form of a man, his leathers had the hint of one much older than he appeared and yet upon his breast he wore the symbol of an officer, captian. Opposite of it was embedded a crest like that of a dragon... taking a knee he would hold one hand out to the child, his etheral voice echoing throughout the mist. "Hello Child...what are doing so far from the castle?"

Okay. So it took him a bit longer to make his way to find Xia. He knew she was there.. and that mommy loved the little girl like she did his sisters. So she was important, and even though Xia was unsure of it.. Turin wanted to be her friend.
Finding his way to her, he would be tired of crawling. Plopping down onto the ground next to her as his eyes soon caught the glimmer thingy. Ohh.. now he wanted it, but the mist thing wasn't calling him, it was calling his friend.

She wasn't quite speaking yet. She made a lot of noises close to words when it suited her, but she hadn't quite said her first words yet. She'd startled when she saw a man form from the glittering things, a little frown settling in her forehead.
Xia didn't really know the meaning of stranger, for one thing. Everyone around her was someone who loved her. Her mother was constantly there, her protective arms keeping her close and her eyes always seeming to follow her infant where she went. Nym was, indeed, a tad bit obsessed.
For instance, even alone, she was likely one of the best guarded children in the realms. It was a very sheltered existance the little Thornheart child led. So she was confused now, not knowing his face or his voice. He seemed nice enough, though, and there was a dragon shape on his shirt.
Ooohh... dragons she liked! She had one. Though Lapis was always keeping her from crawling under the furniture which was quite mean of him. Mother had dragons too, though. Mother had dragons that flew. She'd take Xia up high, high in the air, well bundled of course, and they'd fly all about the lands of GoldenMyst and, from time to time, over the ocean to a land full of the cold white stuff. "Gah!" she exclaimed excitedly, toddling unsteadily toward his outstretched hand and trying to reach out to point at the dragon shaped creast, "Aaaapsss." It wasn't quite a word yet though. "Mmmmmmammmmmammamaamamamam"
Gibberish, but it might get the thought across? She didn't quite understand words, save for a few. For the most part, she thought people just liked to make sounds.

Oh yes, quite shortly if they knew what was good for them. If the nannies didn't realize quickly that they'd lost these two, they'd have two very distraught and angry mother's on their hands.
Pity the young prince wasn't old enough to drag along with them yet. It seemed Xia was already leading the other kingdom children into more trouble than the little girl was worth. Down she plopped, turning her head toward Turin and reaching out to touch him. She liked the twin boys, actually. Unlike their big sister. Of course, Xia liked anything draconic.
After a moment she started to look around, not really understanding where she was (or caring, apparently) or why the shimmering things had left her. "Gah?" she finally questioned, looking back up at the kindly captain.
