::the day was long and tiring...the children were getting cranky and all she wanted to do was sleep...to hell with food right now...she halted everything the minute she saw the encampment...a fire was going and the trenches was only something a season soilder would think of...that thought had never even crossed her mind...she slid off her horse and taking up the reins walked him across the bridge...the rest of the group followed...handing her horse over to a groom, the soliders began settling the horses and the cook began to fix supper...walking over to the wagon that held Kalhan, she picked her up and walked around the enitre camp...Kendrick was helping with the horses and bedding...Isabeau was helping cook and for the first time in over a year Desari did not have to worry about anything...she caught a glimpse of Vincent and Crystal...His words mummbled, she could not hear what was being said...she wanted to go to him and thank him but something stopped her...she wasn't sure what it was but she simply turned and walked away...going to her tent, she entered it and held Kahlan in her lap...::

She leaned into him and nuzzled him, purring softly.
<Just becareful..Desari means well..and she is a good friend of mine.>
She would glance around the encampment to see Desari looking their way, If Desari looked closely she could see a twinkle in her eyes. Then would pass a mind link to her..blocking the message from Vincent.

Oh, he would feel Desari's eyes and with that he would turn, leaping up onto the wall and with a wave of his fingers, spikes of ice would rise in the trench and he would look over all the soldiers, taking 15 of them.
"You will take 2 hour shifts each, five at a time awake one watching each wall, one watching the center."
He would pick the first shift and then look over to Crystal.
~Desari has shown me I am a soldier... and commander over these men until we get to Kay... I know my place to her now.~

::sitting on the pallet within her tent, she could feel Crystal in her mind and nodded to the air:: ~I know that Crystal...I have never doubted you...I am trying so hard...Why can't he see that? Why can't he see that I trust him?~ ::and trust him she did, for if she didn't he would not be running the camp...for the first time today she knew she would be able to sleep...Kendrick came in with food for her and his sister...she smiled at her son and gave him a hug...:: You are getting so big...I think when we return home your Uncle Kay and Vincent need to take you under thier wing and start your training...What say you? ::he became so excited that he ran out of the tent screaming and hollering...she couldn't help but smile...she knew Kay and Vincent would watch over him...she was worried about Isabeau...she was such a quiet, reserved child...too much like her self...sometimes that was not such a good thing...she handed Kahlan a piece of bread and laughed as she watched her mush it...she sat her on the pallet and picked up the plate and found she could not eat..she watched and played with Kahlan when Isabeau walked in...she looked at her mother and then walked to her and sat in her lap...these were the moments Desari lived for...a guard walked to the tent and annouced what the plans were for watches...she looked at him and canted her head:: And who gave these orders? ::the guard shifted on his feet and looked down at the ground:: Sir Vincent m'lady...::she nodded to him:: I want you to follow his orders tonight...You can go now...::her attention now back on the children...she passed the first part of the night in peace::#nosmileys#nosmileys

~Desari , he is like all men...stubborn and hard headed. I will try and talk to him if that is what you would like.. after all he will listen to me.~
She curled up in a ball beside one of the children and decided to rest for awhile.

As day began to fall and night began to rise, Vincent would sit there atop the wall looking out into the surrounding the woods, his cloak wrapped tightly around him, and those sapphire hues would glint in that pale moonlight. Alone.

::she ran her hand over Crystal's fur:: ~I doubt it would do you much good...But if you feel you must try then do so...~ ::she suddenly was overwhelmed by a sense of loneliness...placing a now sleeping Kahlan on the pallet, she kissed her on the top of her head and looked over to the other two...:: I want you two to go clean up and then get some sleep...Tis been a long day and tomorrow comes quickly...::she kissed them both as they walked out of the tent and then glanced at Crystal:: ~Watch them for me please...I will be back shortly...~ ::she grabbed her cloak and walked out of the tent...she stood there for a moment and was still in awe at what he had done before they had arrived...she looked around and saw a lone man sitting on a wall of dirt...she wrapped her cloak around her and walked towards him...stopping behind him, she whispered his name, waiting to see if he heard her, she stared out into the night:: -w- Vincent...

Moments would pass before his head would turn slowly, just a little of his face looking toward her, one sapphire hue glinting in the moonlight looking even more errie with a strand of black hair in his eye.

Slowly he would rise and face her, towering above her as he stood atop the wall.
"Woman, long ago you knew how to approch me, and how you did today was... hurtful. Now you can feel the pain I felt. Harsh as it may be, I learned long ago to deal with that pain. I gave my alligence to you thinking you would still treat me as a friend... but how you spoke to me when I was going to simply recon a castle I didnt know anything about you yelled at me like a common footsoldier instead of simply explaining it to me as a friend. So a foot soldier I will be."
