A couple days had passed. It was Valentine's Day, the day after Summer and Caelum were to become married. Caelum had asked Paul to be his best man, and Paul accepted. Paul smiled thinking about it as he looked up to the blue morning sky. Taking in a deep breath he watched as the clouds spiraled around in circular patterns, moving very slowly from east to west. "The world is still here, life has continued." Paul said to himself in a flat, monotone voice, "At least for some of us."
Paul shook his head and began to think back to when he first opened GoldenMyst. The people who came and went, the people who were there for him in the beginning and those who proved their loyalty to him in the end. No matter what anyone felt or how anyone interpreted Caelum's intentions toward GoldenMyst, Paul knew in his heart Caelum was loyal to the lands. Not loyal to the king but loyal to the soil he called home for so long. Paul thought back to the beginning when he had accepted Caelum into GoldenMyst and watched him grow as a knight. So much had happened and changed since then, Caelum grew to lead a division, the Order of the Moon.
The Order of the Moon ended up breaking off from GoldenMyst. Caelum would lead the Order through many good times, and even some bad. "I wonder what's happened to those left in the Order now..." Paul said to himself. Their former leader has passed, and in the conclusion of Nicho's win in the election for kingship in GoldenMyst they were disbanded. Nevertheless they all had their memories, even Caelum's soul. Paul did smile knowing Caelum died how he always wanted to, in battle. Nicho had accepted the death match which made Paul satisfied. Both combats had proved something to him that night, it was unfortunate that one of them had to die in the process.
As Paul kneeled down on the grass, sweat covering his forehead and arms under the hot white sun, he just remembered something that was ironic. Paul remembered the day one of his loyals came to him telling him that in his extended absence, Caelum and Nicho were plotting together to throw him out of leadership. At the time when Paul had heard that he wasn't sure whether to believe it or not, but in time it changed from a feeling of disbelief to agreement. He didn't belong in control of the kingdom. In all the time that's passed Paul had never mentioned to anyone what his loyalist had told him that night. Thinking about it now he still believed it was probably true. "I just shouldn't have been at the top..." Paul said to himself as he rested momentarily on the ground. He didn't witness it as a betrayal, he actually witnessed it as two men who had the heart and desire to see GoldenMyst succeed, and succeed it did.
In Caelum's death that night though there was another story that had come to an end. A story that was not as well known or as grand as that of Caelum Lupus, but a story nonetheless. "Princess Summer..." Paul spoke softly. Paul was the first friend that Summer had made in GoldenMyst, and there was a time when Paul felt as if there could be more then simply friendship between them. She was set to marry Caelum in which Paul fully respected and encouraged, but it doesn't mean that his memories would erase. No matter what you do you can never fully extinguish your feelings for someone you cared deeply for one hundred percent. While Paul didn't think of Summer in that way anymore, it doesn't change those pesky "what if's".
Paul doesn't regret anything... Well, almost anything.... Even though Paul and Summer never ended up officially together it was okay. Life is just one big book, and books don't always go the way you'd expect at times. Paul had got particularly close to Summer when he had come back to GoldenMyst after being used as a vessel for so long. Paul's body had been used to see things in the real world by spirits who could no longer participate in it. Paul had been used for so long he almost forgot everything about himself. He forgot how to eat, how to sleep, the basic necessities, and it was only natural he'd forget or mix up names and faces. Summer was suddenly there for him in this time of need, and Paul assumed she was his girlfriend. Shadowe was around, but Paul wouldn't have known where to look for her, or who to even look for. He would end up finding Shadowe eventually though, and thus it brought the end to whatever story Paul and Summer may have told. Life happens in weird ways, and even though Paul didn't know what he was doing, that was his one regret. He regrets how Summer ended up with nothing. Paul had no way of knowing this would happen, but it didn't make him feel any better. He felt terrible for what happened to her. "At least your pain is gone now Princess..." He spoke aloud.
Even before that however, Paul had been close to Summer. When it became apparent that his cousin the queen would not be returning, he allowed Summer to sleep in Queen Flaxen's old chambers. He didn't care what anyone thought. Paul had spent his time and money rebuilding the castle from the ground up, he could do what he wanted with it. Summer and Paul became close after this, he had spoiled the princess which was what royalty was accustomed to, and she had been a friend to Paul when he needed one. Some people talk about how lonely it is being new or how alone you feel before you make a name for yourself, but Paul knew from experience there is no where lonelier then the top. Everyone knows your name, and everyone knows what deeds you've done, but very few know the real you. Very few try.
Standing up again Paul wiped his bicept across his forehead, trying to smear and sweat off. He had picked today to do this because of the significance of the day. What it symbolized. More over because it was supposed to be the first day Caelum and Summer were wed. Paul felt sad. These were two people he cared alot about and now they were both gone, never to return to this earth. And even the child Summer was about to give birth to had died inside of her. No doubt what caused her own death. It was sad, and here Paul was. Paul of all people, the man who broke Summer's heart was now the man digging her grave.
As Paul looked down into the grave seeing the coffin he laid down six feet under ground, he sighed. Summer told him so many times about her homeland and how one day she wanted to go back. Paul's eyes were suddenly red as he slammed them shut refusing to cry. "You said you wanted to come back home one day..." Paul spoke, his eyes closed as he moved the shovel into the dirt he had removed from the ground, "Well... You're home now...". Paul's voice was shakey as he opened those eyes again, and began shoveling dirt into the grave.

::she stood behind a tree and watched him. She had no idea how close Summer and this man had been but she canted her head to one side as she watched him cry and wondered. She slid down the tree trunk and closed her eyes, tears falling to the earth. She was suppose to have been there for Summer. She and Cae were gonna get married and now that would never happen. She wanted to scream to the heavens. She wanted answers but knew they would never come. Summer was the second person she had ever met after coming here. They had quickly become friends. She stroked the diamond necklace Summer had given her and brought her knees to her chest, laying her head down, she said a small prayer to the gods of her clan and hoped that Summer and her babe would find peace. For they did not find it their last days in this realm. Looking up to see if Paul was done, she noticed that the grave was finished and he was gone. Crawling on her hands and knees to the freshly turned earth, she sat there and thought about all the talks they had and smiled at the night in the library. When the mouse had scared the hell out of her. She thought about the night Riley had practically killed her. Anger came to the surface and blue hues now were tinged silver. Taking the necklace Summer had given her, she dug a small hole in the ground and placed it within the dirt. Covering it up she thought to her self and the words came forth:: My sister. My friend. You will be missed more then you know. ::taking her dagger from her hip, she slit open her palm, her blood seeping into the ground, head lowered, the soulless Tempest cried::

She had finally taken time to go to Summer's grave. Standing for long moments she sighed, finally sitting down she lay her hand on the grass that had covered the grave. In the months since that night, Maggie's focus had been on her family. Just being a Mom. Working with Kyo to maintain the gates security, and training for the coming horde.
She began to bury bulbs in the ground the covered Summer's body. Next spring the grave would be covered with a profusion of flowers. The bulbs would lie quiet for the next year. Then they would awake, push their way up through the ground, looking for all the world like a garden of gnomes, with pointy green hats pushing through the earth. In a short time there would be an explosion of color. Summer deserved that.
Kissing her fingertips she pressed it them to the ground, and stood making the journey home. As she walked her thoughts went to Caelum. He had no grave. No marker. His body had been consumed by fire, as was fitting. She had given him all she could. Enough time to say goodbye. Making sure his last breath came with a sword in his hand. She had lifted the bloodied body above her head, sending it on to Valhalla. A tear slid down her cheek. She still had the bloodied robes locked away at home. It had been the last time she wore the druidic robes. Her heart ached for him. Wishing he could be there when she and Kyo at last married.
With a sudden burst of speed she burst into a run, her lungs burned from the deep intake of air. The muscles in her arms and legs rejoiced at being unleashed. She was still very much alive.
