He wondered why they would need her as he already didn’t much like her attitude, a smart ass, those were always the harder to deal with they did not like authority. He looked down at Wyn questionably but all the canine did was let his tongue roll out as if he was hot and then look back to her.
“Well, come on Wyn, let’s go.” He stood up, smoothing out the wrinkles in his coat and proceeded to the door.
A few steps taken he noticed he didn’t feel the comfort of the dog beside him and stopped to turn around. Looking back to his seat he saw Wyn being spoiled with petting and hugs from the girl; she seemed to have a love for animals more than humans, which seemed odd to him. This girl was not like he figured, she was different and her soul was plagued by sorrow that came from past lives into this one. Sure he was a bit clairvoyant, he sighed shaking his head a bit and ambled back over towards the two.
“It would seem miss, that my dog has fallen in love with you,” he pulled a hand from the pocket of the coat and extended it towards her in a sign of friendship. “My name is Joseph, and what is yours?”
She smiled gently as she gave the dog one more stroke on his head and sat up to face Joseph as she raised her hand and slipped her hand into his. “Reisha…”
But that was all he heard as soon as he felt her hand in his and eyes went wide. He saw something no one else could, as he seemed to be drawn into the past at the Last Battle at [Researching for the name] as he saw guns firing in the distance. He heard people yelling and screaming while blood stained the earth, heavy artillery traveling and the whistling of canons firing from one side to the other like tennis balls landing in each other’s courts. It was one of the biggest battles of the War, as he watched a massacre happen, as the enemy seemed to over take the Americans. He heard someone yell something as he looked and saw a man standing there, in an outfit of the army holding a bazooka as his finger pulled the trigger and the canon went flying almost wild.
The impact rocked the terrain as the tank exploded, smoke rose from the tip of the long blasting gun as he watched on, he seemed to be grinning at his destruction of the enemy as if he was enjoying giving death. His long black hair was waving in the air like a flag, his bravery and courage shone like a lone star in the dark of night. He watched him as the replay of the body she once had didn’t seem much different than the one he first saw her in, she had much the same spirit; a warrior’s spirit, but a male in that life.
He felt light headed as the vision began to go blurry and the darkness began to swallow him up. His body slumped backwards as Reisha caught his arm and her other arm went around his back to steady him. A puzzled look on her face as she looked down at Wyn as if the mutt might have an answer, all it did was poke his side pocket. She moved her hand from his hand and slipped it in, pulling out keys to a hotel. She found the number, 125 at the Inn Suites Hotel and finally proceeded to carry him to her car.
I don’t know why I was doing this, maybe it was because of the dog, I was a dog lover after all not much carrying for human beings even if the guy was handsome as a Greek God. I first went over to his room door with the key and opened it, placing a rock to keep the door open as I jogged back to my Camaro and half carried, half dragged him to his room. I first sat him down on the bed, took off his jacket and flung it onto a chair as I laid him down, placing a pillow under his head and neck. Wyn just seemed to do nothing but watch in concern, padding after me where ever I went while I got a washcloth and soaked it with warm water.
“I wonder what caused your master to faint like that, Wyn.” I muttered, I always talked to animals as if they were humans and to me they were smarter than us hairless apes.
I moved back over to Joseph’s side, sitting on the side as I folded the cloth and placed it over his forehead, as he seemed to be in a peaceful sleep. I stared at his face, for some reason he seemed familiar, like a distant dream as I used two fingers to sweep his golden hair from his face as I saw something shiny on his chest but was caught in alarm as my hand slipped. I fell forward; my arms quickly came to my aid and held me up just above his face, my lips not so far from his as I let out a sigh of relief. But that did not last long as his eyes began to open and he blinked looking at me as if examining my face.
“I’m sorry, I slipped…” I stuttered, embarrassed at what happened and sat back up, running my fingers through my hair.
“Where am I?” He seemed to snap out of a phase of shock.
“I brought you back to your hotel room when you fainted at the bar. I’ll be going now, you don’t need me to stay.” I got up and proceeded to head to the door, I still had my jacket on, but of course I hardly ever took it off because I didn’t stay in one place too long anymore.
“Thank you, but please stay, there is something I must discuss with you, Reisha.”
Not sure why I stopped in my tracks but perhaps it was the tone he used when he said my name, and what did he want to talk about that seemed a bit urgent. I didn’t look back at him just yet, wondering if my instincts where going haywire from the heat of the Arizona summer weather or just going off the meter on my weird-shit barometer. I saw Wyn as he walked over to me; his eyes were green and blue as if the dark green made him seem wise and the blue showed the calmness of the ocean waters. He said something about people could not see Wyn, then why could he and I see the dog. Finally the back of my head I heard the answer like rats clawing at the walls; Wyn was dead, spirits come to protect.
“I’ve never known anyone else who could see the dead,” I spoke softly but sure that Joseph heard me.
“How do you know Wyn is not flesh?” He seemed puzzled in that manner of voice.
“You gave me the first hint, I’m quick on things when I puzzle them over and I’ve never seen a white Doberman in existence before. That alone gives reason he’s a ghost dog, he is your spirit guide and I am guessing what you want to talk about is the journey he is leading you on.” I stood there, part of what I said made little sense to my own mind but I had a strange feeling it was all true but I wasn’t afraid, I was excited and I looked at him finally.
“You are an astonishing woman you know Reisha, and yes what you say is true. So will you stay and hear me out?” He started to get up from the bed, I wanted to protest but I wasn’t his woman or a nurse if he hurt himself it was his own stubborn fault.
“Alright,” I gently took off my jacket to prove I would stay a bit.
We talked about our past a bit into the start of the conversation but once he started talking about his journey I had finally met someone more insane than I was. I sat there shocked at what he prophesied for our world, the coming of the Demon to run Earth and he was the one to find the Chosen sent by God himself. I had no religion, I was once a Christian, partly still one because I kept my Christian name on my ID cards and now I did not believe in the Gods but only in what I could do. I had once denounced Gods all together so I could focus on believing in myself before I trusted some book with words. I finally had found myself after relationships had claimed some experience and I was no longer a virgin; at least I would never be sacrificed on some virgin’s alter but I was content with the theory that I would be alone.
“…That is why Wyn and I were in that bar, we were waiting for you, and you didn’t know of the bar you just saw it as a interesting place to stop by at. You are one of the Warriors chosen for battle, the War is coming and we need you on our side.” He looked at me as I held the cup of coffee in my hands, stealing its warmth and I shook my head.
