I can still remember that loud pounding headache in my brain, my body going numb as my mind went black. I could hear voices as I started to wake up; both were male. I opened my eyes to see a handsome devil, Davan, his soft brown hair a bit messy from our fight. And I was so close to knocking him out when something or someone hit me over the head. Trust me to keep my back open for an attack.
“Finally, the princess has awoken,” he said in his sultry voice and sly grin on his full thin lips of painted black. His crystal clear blue eyes sparkled with anger, turning to the left he glanced at a man showed in darkness and I knew he was the one who knocked me out.
“Where are we not a very nice person?” I demanded as my vision cleared and I looked around at my surroundings as I began to recognize a few things. It was an open meadow on a night with a crescent golden moon shining in the sky, the grass was tall and a stone formation like the head of a wolf stood nearby and trees that made my mind flicker as if a switch had been pulled. That only happened if I had a dream of this place like I’d been here before. It felt like De Ja vu.
“Don’t remember?” Asked the hidden face, boy he must be hideous.
“Why should I tell you?” It was enough to reveal my thoughts; it was the reason I never played poker because my face showed my hand that I was to play.
“She doesn’t remember you Caine, it was so scary she blocked it out,” said Davan. The man named Caine just chuckled but only his name was revealed, he was smart at least.
“I don’t believe anyone could forget your face,” Davan grinned and broke out into a laughter that was cut short as a growl drifted on the air. Perhaps his friend didn’t like the joke, but Davan was not known for his humor.
“Well, maybe she just needs a to see my face again,” after those words were spoken he stood up and I could only see his bulk of a body. He was in a gray shirt and brown pants; it was too dark to see his face still. Then he stepped toward, my eyes narrowed in hatred as I saw his face. Memories of dreams in my past re-surfaced, as did the very first time I met him on a night like this one. He had come towards me; he was bigger because I was only 7 at the time. He was, actually is, a werewolf.
“You bastard,” I whispered so softly, so angry.
“I think now she remembers, but not fully.”
They both stalked towards me, I didn’t understand and I didn’t like it. One of Davan’s hands reached to touch my face. I tried to move but I was tied to a thick wooden pole with my hands tied together behind me. Finally his skin touched mine, tiny shocks rang through my body like surging mini waves and I realized what this was; Magic. I was feeling his aura, I knew of magic but nothing as strong as this undead creature. That touch of magic brought back the rest of the memory. His friend, Caine had turned furry and sliced my arm with a claw. All I remember was being left for dead as he walked away as I bled and fainted.
“Now she fully remembers.” Caine said, I curled my lips into a snarl as a growl of anger came from my throat. I knew I was not human, at least I only sensed it. I never had proof but now I did and I was scared. I wanted this kind of life, to be different among normal people but I was afraid this might be true, except why did I not turn into a werewolf as well on a full moon; I shook my head.
“She doesn’t believe that she’s inhuman.” Davan’s hand brushed my cheek again and without thinking I sank my teeth into his cold flesh. He let out a yelp of surprise and stumbled back as some blood leaked from the wound. I spit out the taste but something in me forced me to swallow the rest of the gooey liquid. I saw the grin slide onto Caine’s lips as I returned a grimace to him; he won, I lost. He succeeded in bringing out my beast to the surface and shoving the proof in my face that I was no longer who I thought to be. I grew angry, I hated it when others knew more about me than I did but I also knew of another power source.
“You did it on purpose.” I glared at him as words sprang from my lips like fire. “It was no accident that I was left with a scar in the shape of a claw, you marked me because you wanted the power I have now.”
He smiled like a proud father and nodded, “I picked the prize of the litter, and she is smart. Oh how I love that in a cub.”
He called me a cub; I growled at him and glared harder. I was a woman! I was 25 years old d**n him! Everyone treated me like I was still a kid. Davan looked at me then to Caine. The poor slob was confused and I laughed out loud causing both men to look at me with a startled glance.
“You don’t get it, do you?” I called on my power subconsciously as the winds rustled through the air over holes that rang like howls in a choir. My aura strengthened, causing my hair to billow around my face as I stared at my tied up feet. I had no idea before this night that I was linked to the wolves but I knew of that gift of witchcraft heritage. My family came from a line that had a powerful witch that had decided to return in full glory within me.
“Her witch powers are strong,” Davan muttered and looked towards Caine. “You didn’t make her a werewolf, but you did mark her?”
“A mark to link her to the others, but not to be a true werewolf yet. She was too young at the time I marked her and her powers would have faded. But she will be mine, either as my lupa or dead.” He grinned; I had no idea what a lupa was. Then it hit me like a truck or lightning, don’t know, take your pick; his mate.
“I shall never be your mate,” I snarled, my power wanted to burst free but I held it. “I’d rather die,” I narrowed my dark brown eyes at him.
He frowned slightly and his eyes in anger. “As you wish, I tried to woo you in your dreams, I even tried to threaten your life. But I guess I can not have you, so no one ever will and after you’re dead, I’ll have your family join you.”
My eyes went wide in fear as I knew he would do this, I hanged my head in sadness. “Then get on with it, I do not fear death.”
He stepped up to me, one hand caressing my face, as he was ready to break my neck and I let my power fly at him like a battle ram. His eyes flew open and stumbled back, tripping to fall upon Davan. I called my power to me, the strength of the oak trees, and the life of the waters and beauty of the forest. With some skill and speed I magically untied the ropes that bided me and I stalked towards the duo.
“How sweet, a vampire who could be a master vamp and an Ulfric werewolf afraid of a witch with the mark of a werewolf. But I will never be either of you; I shall be myself. So dare not come near me or I shall have your heads.” I turned and walked back towards my home, knowing very well this play was not yet over.
“Finally, the princess has awoken,” he said in his sultry voice and sly grin on his full thin lips of painted black. His crystal clear blue eyes sparkled with anger, turning to the left he glanced at a man showed in darkness and I knew he was the one who knocked me out.
