"King Arthur" as reveiwed by our guest, Fighter:
Swords!
Okay, now onto the point. It is a magnificent movie.. if you don't mind that it isn't right. Not right at all. It is like the first Harry Potter movie. It is great.. if it wasn't supposed to be based on the book I read 5 times prior to seeing the movie and could quote from.
I compare it nearer to the Romeo & Juliet with Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. Shakespeare with guns, yeah... brillant. I am sure if they had neon signs back then that Shakespeare would have added them into the play too. Really, who the heck needs swordsmanship in the play of star crossed lovers. Oh, they make a big deal in it... you mean, in the dialogue that was left untouched? Well, I am sure they were making a statement. Guns take talent... point, shoot... it's hard!
Yeah, I was fun to listen to after the Harry Potter movies. Lord of the Rings too, but they didn't outrage me quite as often. But King Arthur... it is a good movie. It is exciting and sympathetic, and it has a magic to it... except that it tried to be King Arthur type magic and I am betting Shari won't like it either.

I thought King Arthur was a refreshing new look at a classic story; I went into it expecting to see something new, and I left satisfied. The movie's premise is based on recent historical speculations which place King Arthur's tales a thousand years before the middle ages which they normally take place in, so there is no doubt that things will be more gritty, less epic, and there will be Romans. Overall, I feel the movie accomplished what it set out to do, but if you have your heart on the classic tales of the round table, then there are plenty of other movies to chose from.

I have not seen the movie yet and am looking forward to seeing hopefully within the next couple of weeks...I am not expecting a classic...But like a "knights Tale" something modern with a twist...I have seen a tone of movies in the last few weeks...Also looking forward to "Hildago" (i think i spelled it right) comiing out on video tues...
Just saw "The Hunted" with Tommy Lee Jones....It sucked...Also saw "The Last Samuri" I liked it...And to answer y'alls question...No I can not spell this early in the morning...Lets see what else I have watched...
Well I have seen four movies in the last two weeks...Two on DVD...Two in the theater...The ones on DVD were "Down With Love" and "What a Girl Wants" "Down with Love" was not bad...I like Renee in it...It is a very campy rip off of the 1950' and 60's...David Hyde Pierce was a hoot...
"What a Girl Wants" Is a teenage girls dream...Cool music and a ton of laughs...Colin Firth rocked...If you like those kinds of movies I highly recommended it...
Saw Harry Potter on opening day...Suz and I stood in line for over an hour as we ate our dinner...Was it worth it and the money? OH HELL YEA...Even though it was produced and directed by a new group then the first two and Richard Harris died and was replaced it ROCKED! The special effects were great but I can be honest in saying I do not like the new Dumbledoor...Yea I know I prolly spelled that one wrong...But still a top three to see...Oh and Trena I finally saw the second Legally Blonde...Loved it...
Well two more DVD's have been watched..."BulletProof Monk and Gothika" Monk was good if you are into all the Chinese stuff...I loved the chick in this movie...She kicked ass...Gothika was AWESOME...
Saw "DareDevil" too...Hated it...I also just rewatched House of a 1000 Corpses...WOOT...Rob Zombie rocks...
Watched "Master and Commander: The Farside of the World". Decent. Long. Would never own it. But it was good.
Saw a "Knights Tale" last night. It was ok. I did not like the woman who played the love intrest but loved Heath in it. Take me back to the medieval times. WOOHOO
I watched four movies on Sat. X-Men United. Always good. Not hip on Jane Grey but Hugh Jackman. Oh yea. One of my favorite movies the Poseidon Adventure. I know I know it’s an oldie but its cool. The Others with Nicole Kidmen. Ok now that was a mind twister. Til the end I needed a road map. And last but not least a classic. The Ghost and Mr. Chicken with Don Knotts. That movie is a hoot. I also highly recommend Harvey with Jimmy Stewart. Hey what can I say I like old movies.

*swoons* "A Knight's Tale" and "Ever After" were my favorite things to watch when Heather and I had just moved into the apartment and didn't have cable. We barely even had a computer except her lap top and a good number of you have heard my opinions on those. That was back when I was rp'ing Waki, my willow tree dryad, on Shadowed Dawn. Slow and easy just to get on every so often and post something up, go exercise, watch a movie and then sleep. I miss those days.
I miss watching Abbott & Costello movies with my mom... depending on what phase we were in in my growing up. We used to rent tons of movies and just send weekends watching them and eating candy.
And yeah, Heather would agree on the fresh take on it. She loved it. She also was bored when I took her to the first LoTR's movie. How can anyone not love that? I hadn't actually known that it wasn't going to be a typical King Arthur. If it were not for the way it ends though I might not have reacted with outrage. It seemed to me that they threw around a good number of well known, well loved names for these characters and then they changed things so much that they could not ever be what we knew them to be and that upset me. Like what they did to Excaliber. It is a wonderful movie, I admit that, but it is Romeo & Juliet with guns. They stripped the magic out of it. It reminds me of the history channel's documentary on the origins of Arthur. There was a woman saying that they can investigate all they want so long as they do not touch the legend. The story. They go through the evolution of the tale, the different steps it took from different times and places. How is it that our generation, our world, has to dig everything up and put it under a magnifying glass? Camelot does not have to be real... it becomes real on its own. It is like Rhydin, funny enough. The origins are a little forgotten but that is fine because it exists now. It is known. We are blessed with imaginations that have entertained us for thousands of years. While looking for the grain of truth is fun, exciting and makes for interesting discussion, it is not more important that what is given us in its place.

Yeah, I went with my boyfriend to go see "King Arthur". It really sort of went like this:
Me: - watches. - Him: I think I understand the plot. Fighting, make a joke about their penis... a bit more fighting.. flaming pots of oil.. All right. I'm done. Me: We should just make out. Him: Okay.
Suffice to say, I did not see much of the movie.

Oh, and I saw Spiderman 2 with my boyfriend but I actually got to see that one. xD It was all right. I saw Anchorman yesterday with a friend. There's a few funny parts, you have to be into slapstick to enjoy it.
I am dying to see the Village though. Oh my god, I love M Night Shyamalan. I looooved Signs. I have to see the Village or I'm gonna DIE. - drool -

Okay, so I finally got out to see the Village. This is going to be my review. ^_^
If you're looking for a horror movie, the Village isn't your movie. Nope, you won't even jump from the climatic music. Why it's being addressed as a horror film, I'm not particularly sure. M. Night Shyamalan throws in one of his usual twists of course, but it takes away from the movie, it really slashes up the value. After the twist is revealed, nope, there's not a shot at being scared. There are deeper meanings to the Village, so if you go to see that, keep that in mind (It is a Shyamalan film after all). Don't expect to be scared, 'cause you won't be (This is coming from me, who, after seeing Signs, left glasses of water littered about my house). It's not a bad movie, but it's definitely not what I expected. Maybe go see it on a matinee so you don't pay full price. It's worth a watch, but I will say it again, don't expect it to be a horror/thriller. Enjoy it for what it's worth, take it in on a symbolic level, and you'll enjoy it. And if that's too much thinking for you, go see Anchorman. ^_^

Ah! The Village. Saw the trailer for that. Looks quite daring to watch. And Phone Booth, yep another one I liked. ^_^ In a few headlines and all, they're all saying that King Arthur still needs to impress.
