I don't think digress is the best word for "breaking an implicit vow that's news to me"--and even if it was, I was giving an example. I needed to get across to the reader the angry sort of people we deal with and didn't think "no way" or "yeah, right" would have done them justice.

Well I hate to spoil any, "Your guild won't get new members" fantasy, but we've run things this way for some time and have new members all the time.
Perhaps an elitist god has no purpose RPing in these environs. We like characters to have some limitations, that is what makes RP realistic to any extent. We don't play modern or technology anyway, what's the point of playing medieval if you are from the future?
GoldenMyst has well over 100 members and is well respected by most of the medieval kingdoms.
I'm sorry if our rules won't be modified to suit your needs, as I said before, you are welcome to find someplace else to play if you do not like it.
Sure, perhaps this does make me sound cold and unfeeling, I don't really care. It is a game and games have rules. We set up the parameters, it is our kingdom.

I'm not going to specifically respond to anybody exactly in this thread, but I'd just like to make a little point. Let's say you're somebody like me and you know lots of people with waaaaaaaay too much time on their hands. These people decide to play a game of Monopoly. So you don't just waltz into their game and start demanding a bonus because you're a ruddy scottish terrier who happens to be the world's first doggy landlord, do you? While that may not be the best way to explain it, the same logic applies. We're a bunch of people playing a game. We've made rules. If you come in and you can't follow the rules you're out. If you expect us to change the rules because you've made a character that can't interact with them-- guess what? It doesn't work like that. Sorry. I wish that it could work out for everyone, but it doesn't.

I hate to ruin your fantasy Nicho - but your ;kingdom' exists as a public set of rooms, thus it is subject to the public's eye, opinion - and sadly enough - the standard ruleset for Role Play. As for my self - I am no Elitist, far from it. I have a problem with people that seem to think that their rule system is above the standards of both Mundane COnsent and a far more subtle standard - that being what each Persona is capable of. Rhy'Din - and most of the places not a part of it - exists within something called a Nexus - meaning there are no set time periods ever. Unless GoldenMyst exists in a world that mirrors our own - something which is never stated - while the general setting may be Medieval, there is litterally nothing you can say or do that can limit someone form using technology. Pardon me for coming off as an asshole - but you struck a nerve. For starters - your 'limitations' are laughable, as anyone who has a Persona that would be affected may or may not protest. They would claim your 'limitation' to be a mode or a breach of Consent. Ejecting or ignoring them only proves the case. As for your attitude concerning your number of members - I don't really care how many members you have - really I do not. The fact of the matter is that from what I have seen - with the exceptin of a few people your members are lacking in a geat deal of skill. If you would like to prove me wrong - try speaking to me in a room other than your own. Now for your attitude in general - grow up and learn to adapt. Your little fantasy world has come under attack quite a few times - do you know why? Simple reason - it pisses people off when they see a Guold run as if it is above the rules. If you wished to have such 'limitations' you would not have made any of the rooms - or this Board- public places. Speak your meaningless words - you have lost my respect - and have little hope of regaining it short of a direct statement from you explaining not only your attitude - but the reasons behind your 'limitations'. One final note - My own Persona has limitations already in him - as do the Personas of many others - they are built in - and no further limitations are needed. If this simple concept is one you cannot grasp - when you preach to be a 'friendly' Guild - then perhaps what I am dealing with is a Guild full of Hypocrites. The only person that still has my respect - aside from Kolava - is Lady Solace. Edit: As for the respect you have among other Medieval Kingdoms/Guilds - it amounts to nothing oputside that small circle. All I see is a group too afraid to expand into the rest of the Role Play world - hence why I myself joined a Guild that actually has far mroe freedom - and why I have time and again have made excuses to my friends among your members about joining. Simply put - your numbers would swell if you tried to put less of an iron fist about what can and cannot happen - and what is and is not allowed. Want more memebrs? relax your rules. a rant? Yes. Advice form someone who wanted to help? Yes. Said someone;s state? Disappointed.
