After the Fall
By: The Lost Rob Dedicated to: Someone special
Ill spend a thousand weary lifetimes traveling trying to kill this flame I’ve got every square inch of this land imprinted on my veins I’ve had dinner with apostles and I’ve slept with the insane And still your face remains I’ve tried to bathe my memory in baths of heroine Trading the demons in my head for track marks in my skin But every time the line runs dry your face comes back again Oh god please let this end
Now I’ve used all my cigarettes Trying to explain this In simple terms But its no use we can’t go back it seems You can’t remember things You’ve never learned
I’ve spent many sleepless evenings with my hands as cold as ice The lining of my jacket against the howling of the night And I pray to every god I know to end my sorry life Before the next sunrise I’ve cursed you till my throat was raw and could not make a sound I’ve sworn off every thought of you more times then I can count Yet you show up at my doorstep saying you are back in town And I can’t turn you down
Now I’ve used all my cigarettes Trying to explain this In simple terms But its no use we can’t go back it seems You can’t remember things You’ve never learned
I’ve learned many lessons in my life The ones we burn are the same ones every time It’s been so long and we haven’t changed at all Living life after the fall
