This is a poem written in story form dedicated to cancer victims and those who lost people to cancer.
With love surround and clothes on the ground, heart worn on sleeves and tears clinging to the eyes. Life seems to surprise us with little lifes surprises. A woman holds her love tonight, so tight, in fear of the morning light. To wake that morn and find him gone, the disease, the plague that is cancer has made him gone. Heart ache and strength of will do battle as she watched him rot from the inside out. His mucles went first, then his bones slowly crumbled as his hair littered the ground more each day until none was left to shed. Tear did fall, memories of the pain, each day fro treatment. 'Hun I'll get better, just you wait and see.' All she could do was keep herself from crying in sorrow and if a tear did fall she said it in joy his pain would be the end of it all. His mind slowly went inch by inch, losing his ability to walk, then to eat she seemed to be taking care of a baby all over again. His death came that touch of light, she felt his die but a smile on his face as he slept to wake no more. At the Funeral while they came to pay their respects, she stood there the casket open to show his smile and questions did arise. Her answer was. 'Even though it all went bad, he slowly died as the cancer ate away his body his spirit was untouched. He died happy believing that better things were going to come. He said to me just before he died. Hun, it will be alright, I go to a better place and watch you. I go happy because I am loved and had you, my angel at my side through it all.' So remember when someone is sad, don't just be there when they are glad. For who knows that day you might get ill, your best friend will be there with you until the last moment.
