(This might perhaps be the first installment for a book of short stories about GoldenMyst. Any posts to this thread should be formatted as a book, using "quote marks for speach. Thank you.)
Deep under the mountain, the new Aspis queen is concerned. Excavations of the new hive were going well, but it seems that some of her drones were missing. It had only come to her attention yesterday, when a section of tunnel wasn't completed on time. As she lays another batch of drone eggs, she issues the scents which will send several warrior aspis up to investigate.
Emerging from the canyon, the warrior aspis scent the air, quickly finding the drones trail. The scent was old and spoke of general things. The warriors do not notice the lion downwind, watching them, still as stone, crouched among the rocks.

Now the lion was young Aiden Raa Corm, a druid from the nearby land of GoldenMyst. He was an elf child who created illusions so real that they became reality after a time. His lion form was one such, indeed, he spent more time as a lion than he did in any other form.
He'd been assigned to watch the canyon several days ago, so far the people of GoldenMyst had fought off two incursions of the Aspis drones. These few were different, seeming larger, stronger and better equiped for battle than the drones had been. Spikes grew from their sides and appendages, their only purpose to rip and tear at prey.
The lion watches for a while until it is clear they are on the second drone group's trail. Aiden had led that group around Mysthaven and into the Mage Hunter camp two days before. Satisfied that he could find them again easily, the lion bounds off toward the castle, to alert the king.

Not far from where Aiden was, another figure had watched the warrior drones emerge from the canyon. Anduin Lothar, unbeknownst to the others of the kingdom, was already back in GoldenMyst, after having been away for quite some time. Long black robes covered his entire body, pale-white hair flowing down to his broad shoulders. Pure black eyes would watch both the lion and the aspis warriors, with what appeared to be a grin on his face," Well, it seems GoldenMyst has more troubles. I came back at a good time then, well, good for me that is."
A sinister chuckle would escape his lips as he stood there for but a moment, then would hold out his hand. As he held out his hand, a scythe would shimmer into existence, the weapon glowing with a black aura as he took hold of the weapon. He would then turn to follow the warriors, an aura of darkness enveloping him, which would keep him from being seen.
