Gelina Grey: :: sitting in her chambers, she goes through some more paperwork. with a soft sigh she lifts her head looking out the window, thinking she should be outside on a day like this. as her gaze slowly moves across her room, it stops on the looking glass. she stares for a moment wondering who the hell she was looking at. she blinks and gets up from the bed and walks closer to it. stopping just before the standing mirror, a confused expression crosses her face. her hand slowly reaching up to touch her face, fingers running lightly over the wrinkles that have set in around her eyes and mouth. her hand then moving up to touch the white streak of hair on the left side of her face:: <w>...Goddess help me... ::she looks down at her wrinkle ridden hands again and the thought suddenly hit her. she turns, swiftly moving to her small desk, ruffling through the drawers to find her mother's journal. with parchments flying everywhere she finally pulls it out and sits down on the stool. thumbing through the pages to where she had left off reading, she picks up again finish reading what her mother had written about the gene that the female decendents of Tara carried. as she reads, she gasps audibly and tears begin to weld in her eyes. seems there is a defective gene that is passed down every one hundred years. it lies dormant until the age of nine and twenty, when the change is to begin taking place. the woman that receives this gene will begin the change normally then suddenly it excellerates out of control aging her until she dies. as she gets to the end of the page, there is a date that her mother had written down. it was the same date as this day, only it was exactly one hundred years ago. her hands lower the journal and close it gently as tears stream down her face. not being able to hold it in, she lets out a scream that would echo throughout the castle, followed by sobs:: This can't be...no...no!...this can't be happening! ::she quickly gets up, grabbing her cloak, the journal tucked under her arm and runs out of the castle to the stables. mounting Shadow bare back she takes off not really knowing where she was going, she just needed to ride. as the wind pushes her tears further down her cheeks she comes into Zelonian Field::
Maguslncarnate: ::The imposing frame of the so-named Dark Lord of the Rim would be seen standing alone amidst the ruinous decay of what was once a majestic and lush parcel of land. The field had been turned into something out of one's own nightmare as bubbling pockets of black liquids erupted out of several portions of the field, and where there once trees now there were blackened stumps strewn across the scorched land. Much had taken place here, battles of epic proportions...deaths...and even the summoning of demonic forces. The reason for why he was here was unclear, save that he needed some time alone away from his forbidding castle within his Empire. He was clad in that lengthy robe as black as that of sackloth, and the adorned hood having been pulled down to thereby expose his utterly pallid facial features to full view, and those infinitely cold, crimson pools had been directed toward the overlooking horizon beyond the field..until he heard the familiar, incoming sounds of the hooves of a galloping steed..and he immediately cants his head to find the source of it. Seeing the horse race into his peripheal view, a brow would momentarily lift and he would also lift his right hand to tighten the black glove upon it momentarily, as he would attempt to discern whom it was that was coming nearer to his position so quickly. As the rider neared with each passing moment, the figure of the rider grew more detailed...and it was at that moment he knew whom it was that was now hurriedly making her way toward him. One word escaped past his lips as he uttered it softly upon watching her grow closer:: <q> ...Lina....
Gelina Grey: ::blinded by tears, she never saw him. she didn't see anything around her. she stared straight ahead as soft sobs escaped her, her heart pounding her chest. white knuckling the reins with a gloved hand, the other hand clutching her mother's journal. her vision distorted along with her thoughts, she bared down on Magus with the speed that only her horse could pull off. she never saw the ruins around her, she only heard the pounding of Shadow's hooves that echoed her heart. her senses were off, her mind almost shut down. no one could know this. almost upon him she made no move that she recognized he was even there, keeping her eyes solely on the path before her::
Maguslncarnate: ::Something was wrong...that was for sure and that thought registered within his mind in approximately three seconds as she was almost upon him. He had to actually step off to the side fairly quickly before she would come to nearly careening into him with her steed. Reflexes now making themselves quite apparent as he fought to retain his balance. Casting his gaze quickly toward Lina and her horse, he shouted out in that deeply resonant baritone:: ..Lina! Lina..! Stop..! It is Magus..! ::Reacting faster than even
he expected, he launches himself only seconds thereafter to hurry after Lina's racing steed, hoping his shouting would pierce her internal agony however much, and that much he could get a sense of upon that one-second look at her features as she had nearly bolled him over::
Gelina Grey: ::the sound of that voice ripping through her, she harshly yanks up on the reins, bringing Shadow to a skidding hault then rearing up almost throwing her off. once back on all fours, she sat atop Shadow simply staring blankly at Magus almost as if she didn't even know who he was. the side steps and snorts of Shadow's disgust at stopping going unheard::
Maguslncarnate: ::For this moment in time...there was indeed more than a hint of emotional depth now piercing that seemingly unrelenting 'armor' of his cold exterior..worry. Etched lines of worry spread across his pallid features as he quick-stepped over toward Lina and her steed to come to just the side of Lina, looking up to her visage...recognizing the one thing he had never expected to see...he had seen it on others but never on this particular woman. Fear...he saw it and it was as if it were an alien that he was looking at now. His thoughts racing as to what could have happened to cause this:: Lina...what has happened...? Lina...?
Gelina Grey: ::she watches as he moves close to her and she flinches, those now grayish green eyes wide. hearing his voice again snapped something within her and her features softened some as she looked at him. the moment she realized that he was there with her she broke down into hysterical sobbing, her form sliding down the side of her horse to get to him, only for her legs to give out from beneath her::
Maguslncarnate: ::That was the moment that he allowed for his cold exterior to simply drop, and any and all pretense of it vanished in that split-second before he had to literally hold her up with his broad arms to bring her close against his towering frame. Worry..even a facet of his own fear seemed to shine through his eyes, for at this moment...from the look of her eyes...it was frightening..even to him. Attempting to hold her steady, he gave a quick glance down to her legs that seemed to be like a jelly at this point, and he refocuses his piercing gaze to the side of her face as he held her close and firmly:: <q> ..Gods of Darkness....Lina....what has happened..? I am right here...please tell me....
Gelina Grey: ::her gloved hand clutching at him, clinging, the other still gripping the journal. she lifts her face to his, but not only would he see fear, he would see a woman that had aged considerably. just in the time she had ridden alone, a second streak of white had run through her hair down the right side of her face, the face that suddenly held wrinkles around her eyes and mouth, pale lips quivering as she tries to speak, only to have a choked response to his questions:: <w>... I...I'm.....dying... ::the moment the words left her mouth and the realization that it was inevitable, she lost her will to stand again, wanting nothing more than to simply sink into the ground beneath her feet::
Maguslncarnate: :: Once those words were uttered..it was as if she slapped him with the force of a thousand armies in one fell stroke. Something inside of him just...snapped. Like a fraying twig that had been there for years, growing stronger as of recent...that twig snapped...and so did his strict control over his emotions. Pure and undeniable, yet it happened...tears stung the backs of his eyes and for the first time in his life...with just the way she said that...he feared there was nothing he could do. Then a part of his mind rebelled against him, and demanded that he do something..anything...and he choked back a response to her after several long moments of speechlessness. He held her even closer if possible, murmuring to her in a deeply softened..tender tone:: <vq> ...I...I will...do something...Gods of Darkness...there must be something.... ::Every chain of logic and reason, every avenue he had ever encountered he was exploring at this point within his racing thoughts::
Gelina Grey: ::as he pulls her closer, she buries her face in his chest for a moment then pulls back and looks at him again, pulling the journal up between them to show him. she steps back and opens it to where the story tells of the defective gene and that there is nothing anyone can do to stop it::
