[Lady Desari]

::She was sitting at her desk in the libary...She spent most of her nights here absorbed either in a book, taking care of business or playing with her children...Tonight the children had gone straight to the solar to play chess...In other words she knew Kendrick and Isabeau would be playing and Kahlan would be watching them both silently...She often wondered about her last child...In the beginning, she was playful and loud...Now a little older, she kept to her self except where Desari was concerened...Kahlan actually preferred the library then the solar...Running her hands over her face, she rose and looked out the window...Oh gods it was night already...She had lost time once more...It was happening more and more these days...She would come in here to do one thing and realize there are a hundred other things that need her attention...Well tonight it could all wait...Tonight she wanted to be with her children...Taking the candelabra, she leaves the library and walks up the stairs to the east tower...All the children's rooms were there along with the solar she had turned into a play room...She stood in the doorway a moment and shook her head...She was right...Kendrick and Isabeau were playing chess and Kahlan was in the window seat reading a book...Clearing her throat, she smiled as she got their attention:: Who would like to sleep in my chamber this night? We can read a book or I can tell a story and we can stay up as long as you wish it...:: Two of her children were of course thrilled with this idea, however Kahlan simply looked at her mother, cocked her head to one side and bit her lip:: Mom can I finish reading first? ::Desari nodded to her:: If you wish that is fine...Join us when you are finished...::Looking to the other two, she nodded to them:: Get cleaned up and in your night clothes, then you can come up to my room...::She glanced once more to Kahlan and went to her rooms...Walking in, a wave of her hand would ignite all the candles and get the fire going...Opening the doors that lead to the balcony, she stepped out into the night air and sighed...She had no idea what to do about Kahlan...Hearing her children slam open the door, she turned around and walked in to join them, hoping Kahlan would be up soon::

As soon as that thought of Kahlan entered her head there would be a scream and the sound of her daughters laughter echoing throughout the castle. And before Desari could turn to run to Kahlan, she would be coming up the hall, escorting a cloaked man, no aura coming from him at all. His face hidden in the shadows of the cloaks cowl.

"Hey mom, guess what."

[Lady Desari]

::The instant she heard the scream, she shoved her other two children behind her...Now hearing the laughter, she raises a brow and steps cautiously near the door...Hearing her in the hallway, Desari whips open the door to see Kahlan with a hooded man. Who the hell? Oh Goddess it was him... Or was it... She had closed that part of her months ago so the only ones she honestly felt was her children... Unless...:: Kahlan...Please tell me you have not conjured again?

A familiar voice spoke from the hooded man, a sense of compassion radiating from it. "So, she has conjured before? That is amazing for your age. But what should I expect from my own daughter." With that he would toss the hood back and those sapphire hues would look at Desari. A strong sense of caring in them. "Ah Desari its been a while. How have you been?"

[Lady Desari]

::The instant she heard his voice, she stumbled backwards til she hit the wall behind her... Pure shock was kicking in and she stared dumbfounded... Shaking her head as to clear the cobwebs, she smiled...:: Aye she has conjured before...Little things here and there...Once she was actually able to conjure a cat...I am thinking we can expect great things from her...::She still had not looked to him, having been watching her daughter...Slowly she began to open a little part of her mind and a wave of compassion could be felt...She was not sure why he felt compassion...She had taken the life the gods had dealt her and tried her best to make it thru and succeed... Amber hues now looked to Vincent and her smile widened a little...:: Yes Vincent it has been awhile and I am well...And pray tell how have you faired as of late?

A soft smile would cross his face as he nodded slightly. "I have been doing fairly well, but I have done better. Came here to see how some of my favorite people are doing and its good to know they are doing great." He picked up Kahlan and held her, whispering something into her ear and he set her down and she ran to Desari hugging her tightly.

"I don't think our daughter could be raised any better Desari..."

[Lady Desari]

::She was a little shocked as her daughter hugged her. Kahlan was not prone to such displays. She held her daughter tight as she spoke:: I am happy to hear you are all right...After our last disagreement, I honestly did not think I would hear from you again. ::Loosening her hold on her daughter, she ran a hand over her head to smooth her hair. Kahlan looked nothing like her...However she looked exactly like her father...:: Thank you Vincent...I think I am doing a good job...She is very intelligent at her age...Being home has helped...We have not traveled since our return from Tara...

::The young girl looked back and forth between her mother and father. Kahaln knew he was. Her mother had a long talk with her a few months back. She clung to her mother and looked up at her, her voice a mere whisper:: -w- Is he going to take me now?

::With that statement, Desari looked at Vincent:: Your not here to take her yet are you? I know she will have to train with you but I am not ready for that yet...::Desari's heart sank a little at the possibility::

[Arathorn Lee Sutton]

He would move from the shadows as he watched his dear friend Des. His long black cloak was about him and the hood was up as he watched her and the others. He was wondering how long it will be before she knew he was there. Should not be that long he thought.

He was in black as he was most of the time any more. But every one knew he never had any other color at all.

[Lady Desari]

::She felt his presence and without a second thought she spoke to him:: ~Arathorn, there is no reason to hide in the shadows...You know you are welcome in my home~ ::She knew he had been thru much and wondered if the thing with Lilith had worked out...Still keeping her gaze on Vincent, she awaited his answer to Kahlan's question::

A twitch in his eyes, toward the darkness, but whether he felt the man or not, the words were never spoken. He just simply smiled and looked at Kahlan.

"Not yet. She has a year left before she is ready."

He would look toward Desari.

"So no worries for now."
