As soon as he said that she looked more beautiful, she outright laughed.
Raine was beatiful in that haunting, nagging "damn, what happened to that poor woman?" kind of way. Life had been terrible to her and it was truly surprising that she was not covered in wrinkles and sagging over already!
"No year has been good to me, Drako." She smirked at herself, finding it oh so ironic. "However, this year has been more quiet than most. ...Have you met my son?"

I haven't, no. And the sooner you stop thinking like that, the better. Whatever you believe in...Just know that you have the love of at least one man. "Drako..." Having not yet seated herself, she began to pace a little uncomfortably, her fingers moving subconsciously to Archelo's ring on her finger, the diamond band with the crsyal of his myst...
"...I do not know what to say." Yes, our darling Duchess was always terrible in times such as this. She watched him intently for a moment then diverted her eyes, almost ashamed.

Feeling her eyes tearing, she turned her back to him, still turning that ring on her finger.
"Drako...Please do not misunderstand. I do care oh so deeply for you, but I..."
What else could she say? What else could she do? Archelo Alexander completed her in ways she did not imagine a man could complete a woman. He was her soulmate, and the mere thought of being unfaithful to him, even in death, tore her apart.

Without another word, she walked back to the door of her bedroom, where "AJ" lay in his crib. He was getting too big for it now, and the sound of his mother entering woke him from his previously lightened slumber.
Despite the tears that had just been welling in her eyes, her face softened at the sight of her darling baby boy. Raising his arms to her, his face lit up and Raine leaned over to scoop him up.
"This is my darling Archelo. AJ, as his Uncle Nicho calls him." Her eyes were on her baby boy, her youngets child, his mouth wide with a yawn. He was a chubby baby, unlike his brother and sisters had been.
