::blushes:: Oh. Well, I still don't think I can compare to someone who's played D&D from the very begining. Those first edition books...were like...hand written by Gary Gygax and published out of his garage.

Now that you mention it, I did win ArchCon (D&D convention in St. Louis) one year, I think it was in '83, might have been '82, where I won my first edition DM Guide for first place.
At the time I ran a D&D group called the Dungeon Dwellers, we had over 100 members ranging from 9-36 years old. No, I was not the oldest.

I thought you were making a gender-oriented pun, since it's actually spelled "chainmail". Also, there is a game called "Chainmail" that's around today, though it focuses on miniatures and not Role Play.

wow... I bet that was 1.5 .. not even 2.0 yet... ::sigh:: and now we are on 3.5 already.
But yeah I actually just started playing D&D this year.
I have been rping since I was 15 but I started with Palladium games. My first rp charrie was an Amazon in Robotech. lol! Then we went on to Rifts. Anyway... so then SHADOWRUN... UGH! Before the second ed rules revision. Then... lets see... White Wolf games and more Palladium and on here... but I never played D&D till last year!
Lots of Star wars... Call of Cthulu... stuff...

d20 is pretty flawless, but I've recently converted to the Hero System. It's a universal, ultra-versitile, genre-less system based entirely on the d6, with everything bought with points instead of levels.
